TESOL will also host the first Virtual TESOL Advocacy & Summit this year. The registration is open now. Note:

Because of the Covid-19, the 2020 Regional SETESOL Conference is cancelled. VATESOL, originally scheduled to host the 2020 SETESOL, is rescheduled to host the SETESOL Conference in 2022. GATESOL will host the 2021 SETESOL Conference. Some states in our region will still host virtual conferences in the fall. Please check out their own website if you are interested in attending a virtual conference.

Call for Proposals

Virginia Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (VATESOL) has the honor of hosting the Southeast regional (SETESOL) conference this year.  Educators from eleven southeastern states including Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana will gather for professional development tailored to English language teaching.  

On behalf of the VATESOL Board, we invite you to submit a proposal for the 2020 SETESOL Conference, which will be held at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, VA October 14-17, 2020. The theme this year is Visualizing, Voicing, and (re)Vitalizing English Language Teaching. 

Proposals are being accepted for the following presentation formats:

  • Practice- or pedagogy-oriented session (45 minutes)

  • Research-oriented session (45 minutes)

  • Policy-oriented session (45 minutes)

  • Panel session (60 minutes)

  • Poster session 

To submit a conference proposal, please follow this link: SETESOL 2020 Conference Proposal. Please read the rubric before submitting your proposal. The deadline for submitting proposals is April 15, 2020.
